Misgund Farm

This site is a farm that belongs to the city of Johannesburg, but has been leased to a farmer. This farm was used in the 1990's for maize and cattle. The Johannesburg Council bread their own kind of cattle on this farm which was sold for the meat market. The fields being packed with maize, which tasted very nice :-)

In 2000, the Johannesburg City Council split certain areas of it's operations into Utilities. They decided to close down the farms, therefore this one was leased to another private farmer who now has cattle and some maize.

The farm managers house was then emptied, and since that time has been destroyed by criminal elements who took the roof, doors, windows, and anything else they could remove to help build their own houses.

I have gotten permission to search around this property which is quite big, and also has an area that during the 1890's had Boer war activity on it. On this part of the site, I have found a fair amount of bullet cases and other items.

I visited the house site a week ago and although I did not find anything of value, I did find a key, a lock, and other odds and ends. I just touched the surface, so their will be more searching in the near future.

Below are the finds from my first visit to the house. Although not the greatest, I think it is promising.
