These structures consist of rocks that have been placed into circles, and are about 3ft / 1m high.
At this particular site, there are 17 circles. Some of the circles with smaller circles inside.
It is believed that some of these structures date back to 1000 AD up till the 1780's, and were used by tribes for keeping livestock in, the smaller circles for the young animals, the bigger circles for the bigger animals. There are about 30,000 of these stone structures dotted about South Africa.

"Anthropologists claim that the influx of Bantu settlers from the north happened in very small groups, the largest being no more that 300 people. At the time of the South African War (Boer War) there were no more than 800 black settlers from north and east Africa who over time became known by the names we call them today. And yet there are thousands of ruins dating back thousands of years suggesting there must have been a population of between 200,000 and 600,000 people living here long before we previously imagined".

Finds from the structures and area.
Very little has been found in and around the structures, as the people that made these structures did not have iron at that time. All the finds are more modern, and left behind by people who have visited the structures.
